Hello, I'm Xu!
I'm Vietnamese- American, a piano teacher, and most importantly, I am saved by God’s grace.
I was born in Paris, France and grew up in Orange County, California.
My mom is a celebrated Vietnamese singer and lyricist, Khuc Lan. Since piano lessons were too expensive in Vietnam, she wanted me to have piano lessons when we moved to America.
For as long as I can remember, I learned how to play the piano the traditional reading approach.
My doctoral studies and performance experience help teach pianists today how to play music both by ear and by reading music!
I started
playing the piano ...
since I was about 4 years old.

Despite playing piano for practically my whole life, I would get scared and pressured to play when I didn't have a book in front of me or have anything memorized.
Today, I do not want my students to struggle with what I went through.
Many students seem to quit piano since reading music is challenging and can quickly lose the motivation to continue to play the piano.

Have you always wanted to
play the piano?
You're at the right place! This course is designed for the brand new beginner or someone who has taken a break from the piano.

-
identifying and recognizing patterns

Make up your own music
Human beings are made in the image of God. God is creative, therefore we are creative individuals.
Part of being a complete musician is the ability to improvise or

If speaking in a language helps you practice spontaneous conversation, improvisation is the equivalent match to help you accelerate your piano playing skills.
